Rachel Wilford
Rachel is responsible for the overall running and organisation of the Festival – the music programme, the theme, the hiring of the music team and the arrangement and final approval of the songs and programming and running the concert. She also manages the team of conductors, arrangers, tutors and accompanists who take part in the Festival. This is Rachel’s third year as Music Director. She is the first female music director in 84 years, and enjoys inspiring all young singers to create the best sound they can.
Rachel has a background in singing opera and musical theatre and is passionate about teaching and training young voices. She taught at St Andrew’s College as a specialist music teacher for 19 years and at Westburn Primary School assisting their Specialist Music Programme and as their choir teacher for 13 years. She is currently choir director and music teacher at St Margaret’s College and is also the Junior performing arts curriculum leader.
